What our Students Say

Coming Soon

Our first CMA candidates are working through the course now. We will publish
their results and feedback here once they have sat their exams.

The question bank alone was worth the price. I went into the exam knowing exactly which topics I'd struggle with and had already fixed them.

Frequently
asked questions

The CMA® has strict requirements. Here is what the exam asks of you, and how the Certificate Master Learning System answers it.

How is the CMA® exam structured?

The exam is divided into two parts, each lasting four hours. Each part includes 100 multiple-choice questions (3 hours) and two case-based scenarios (1 hour total), with no more than seven questions per scenario. Question formats vary: drag and drop, fill in the blank, select from a list and numerical entry. You must answer at least 50% of the multiple-choice questions correctly to reach the case-based section, and once the multiple-choice section is exited it cannot be revisited.

How is the exam scored, and when are results released?

Scores are reported on a scale from 0 to 500, with 360 as the minimum passing score. The multiple-choice and case-based sections are not passed separately. The total score for the part determines pass or fail. Results are usually released about six weeks after the testing window closes. Testing windows run in January and February, May and June, and September and October.

How much study time should I plan for?

Most candidates spend 150–170 study hours per exam part. Spread over several months, that means steady weekly effort rather than late cramming. You must also complete the CMA programme within three years of paying the exam entry fees; if both parts are not finished in that window, a passed part expires and the entrance fee is payable again.

What is expected of me as a candidate?

You must maintain active membership with the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) and comply with the IMA Statement of Ethical Professional Practice, which covers honesty, fairness, objectivity and responsibility. Integrity is expected inside and outside the exam room: cheating, disclosing exam questions or falsifying credentials can lead to disqualification or revocation of the certification.

What knowledge does the exam assume I already have?

A working foundation in financial accounting, the ability to read and analyse business reports, familiarity with management and decision-making concepts, and a commitment to ethical and professional standards. Everything beyond that links back to a Learning Outcome Statement. If it is not in the LOS, it will not be tested.

Which CMA product should I choose?

If you are committing to the full qualification, the Part 1 and Part 2 bundle at $670 costs $130 less than buying the parts separately. If you are sitting Part 1 first, start with the $400 single-part plan. The $57 per month option suits a lower upfront cost or a specific exam window, and the $37 MCQ bank is for candidates who only need practice questions.
